In some circles of horsemanship, we obsess over a concept we refer to in equestrian English as throughness. I have to say ‘equestrian English’ because really there is no such word as throughness in the English dictionary.
The German equestrians have a delightful word for it, that is hard to translate and throughness is only a poor cousin to the richness of meaning held by the German word, but once you understand it, it changes your life. Or so I like to think. It is a fun word, a roly-poly word, that I enjoy tossing around for the mere fun of it.
